Introducing The Waypoint Series

Waypoint 16 Year Old & 2 Whisky Glasses

At Loch Lomond Whiskies, our passion for crafting remarkable single malts is inspired by the landscapes surrounding our iconic distillery, nestled on the banks of Loch Lomond. We are proud to present the Waypoint Series, a new collection of whiskies that celebrates the spirit of discovery and our drive to explore new frontiers in both flavour and craft.

The Waypoint Series: A Journey Through Place and Flavour

At Loch Lomond Whiskies, exploration is at the heart of everything we do. With the Waypoint Series, we invite you to embark on a voyage of discovery through a collection of whiskies inspired by the stunning landscapes surrounding our distillery.

This series reflects our enduring quest to push the boundaries of whisky making, capturing the spirit of adventure in every release. Master Blender Michael Henry has crafted each whisky to tell a unique story—blending creativity, tradition, and the finest cask finishes. Every drop evokes a sense of place and discovery.

The Waypoint Series will reveal new dimensions of flavour, offering whisky lovers the opportunity to explore the remarkable possibilities of Scotch whisky.

The First Edition

The series launches with the exceptional Loch Lomond Waypoint 16 Year Old, a single malt that showcases the craftsmanship of our unique Swan Neck stills, and finishes its maturation journey in the finest Cognac casks for 12 months.

This whisky tells the story of the stunning Falls of Falloch, a hidden treasure within Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Much like the waterfall’s mesmerising beauty and powerful flow, this expression offers a smooth and complex experience that is truly reflective of the falls’ natural wonder.

The Waypoint 16 Year Old is housed in a striking presentation box, featuring intricate, hand-drawn artwork by Welsh illustrator Brett Breckon. This illustration invites you to embark on a mythical journey through dense woodlands towards the majestic Falls of Falloch. As you delve into the artwork, new layers of detail and whisky tasting notes emerge, mirroring the complexity of the whisky itself.

Crafted for Exploration

At Loch Lomond Whiskies, we are guided by a relentless desire to push boundaries. Our distillery is the only one in Scotland to use both traditional Swan Neck stills and our signature Straight Neck stills, allowing us to craft distinctive, innovative whiskies that capture the imagination.

For the Waypoint Series, our Master Blender Michael Henry embarked on a journey of his own, blending our whisky-making heritage with an inventive approach to craft expressions that reflect the unique spirit of Loch Lomond. The result is a collection that embraces bold flavours and creative whisky-making, while staying true to the traditions of single malt Scotch.

Michael Henry says, “The Waypoint Series is about more than whisky – it’s about our pursuit of discovery and creativity. The beauty that surrounds Loch Lomond has inspired generations of explorers, and we aim to capture that same sense of adventure in every bottle we produce.”

Falls of Falloch 16 Year Old

Our debut expression in the Waypoint Series, the Loch Lomond Waypoint 16 Year Old, offers a truly layered experience. Distilled exclusively in our Swan Neck stills, it is aged in three types of ex-bourbon American oak casks before being finished in Cognac casks. Each layer brings a different dimension to the whisky’s character.

Tasting Notes

On the nose, expect soft citrus and honey blossom, with a palate that unfolds to reveal stewed apple, honeysuckle, and a touch of honey. The oak notes from the Cognac cask come through beautifully, leading to a medium finish with waxy fruits and honey sweetness.

Non-chill-filtered and natural in colour, the Falls of Falloch 16 Year Old Single Malt Whisky sits at 46.2% ABV, and captures the spirit of exploration and the depth of nature with every sip.
