Introducing a Unique Collection in Support of Women Shaping Whisky
Today, on International Women's day, we celebrate by unveiling this single one-of-a-kind collection of single malts, personally selected by Loch Lomond Whisky Blender and Single Cask manager, Ashley Smith.
Created exclusively for the OurWhisky Foundation ‘Demeter’ auction, which will raise vital funds for the initiative that supports women working and looking to excel in the industry.
THE SONATA Collection
‘Sonata’ is a single opportunity to own a rare collection of unreleased and not-to-be-repeated 30 Year Old whiskies. This remarkable set is comprised of three 30 Year Old single malt whiskies selected by our Whisky Blender, Ashley Smith.
Ashley has selected and drawn a single bottle from three otherwise unreleased single casks. Aged for 30 years and benefiting from the same style of distillation and maturation, Ashley has chosen to focus exclusively on varying the levels of peated malt for a journey of flavour and discovery.
“With ‘Demeter’ the goddess of grain, I wanted to highlight the remarkable breadth of flavour we can produce at Loch Lomond distillery using malt alone. All three bottles benefit from distillation in the same straight neck stills, which are unique to the distillery, and have received the same cask maturation in the same style of warehouse for the same length of time. The differences however are extraordinary, and collectively provide a journey of flavour from unpeated to heavily peated.” - Ashley
The 70cl bottles will be presented in a bespoke handmade walnut case which is wrapped with gold engraving and touches reminiscent of a musical score. The winning bidder will also receive a 5cl of each bottle for a private online or in-person tasting with Ashley at the distillery.
ASHLEY SMITH, WHISKY BLENDER
As well as ensuring the consistent quality of our award-winning blends, Ashley is responsible for Loch Lomond Distillery's single cask program. Ashley Smith has worked in the whisky industry for over 10 years, the last five of those working under Loch Lomond Group’s Master Blender Michael Henry. Her capabilities have been acquired through years of learning, mentoring and experimenting alongside the industry’s finest ambassadors.
OURWHISKY FOUNDATION
The Demeter Collection is a new online whisky auction showcasing unique and exquisite single bottles of whiskies crafted by the industry’s most talented women.
The OurWhisky Foundation ‘Demeter’ auction has been named after the Greek goddess of grain. It will showcase unique and exquisite whiskies crafted and inspired by some of the industry’s most talented women, coinciding with Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, as well as the Our Whisky Foundation’s second anniversary.
All proceeds will go to support the initiatives and projects of OurWhisky Foundation – a not-for-profit organisation running mentorship programs, qualification funds, workshops, and seminars for women looking to enter the world of whisky.
